SYNOPSIS

When STEPHANIE BROWN discovers the truth about her father’s secret life, she must overcome his betrayal and the loss of everything she once believed and trusted.

Stephanie Brown is a spirited and ambitious freshman at Gotham University with a strong sense of justice. She and her friend, Josie, enroll in a political science class taught by the renowned author and professor, Dr. Mathias Crofthammer. Well-prepared and eager to learn, Stephanie garners the attention – and sometimes annoyance – of her classmates, particularly the watchful eye of Tim Drake.

But Stephanie has a hidden life beyond her academic pursuits. Intrigued by the exploits of Batman and Robin, she has meticulously studied their activities and aspires to become a vigilante herself. Stephanie spends her nights patrolling the streets of Gotham City as “Spoiler,” though her first attempts at crime-fighting yield little success.

Stephanie’s father, Arthur Brown, is a Navy SEAL and a hero in her eyes. Despite his frequent and extended absences, he and Stephanie maintain a playful relationship and she cherishes their time together. After discovering the truth about Arthur, a conflicted and heartbroken Stephanie must grapple with her loyalties and reconcile the heroic image she has of her father with the darkness he’s entangled in.

Stephanie’s journey takes unexpected turns, leading her to question the very foundations of her identity and her place in the fight against crime.

FORMAT

Runtime for Act 1: approximately 35 minutes. To be released on YouTube after production and post-production are complete. (Release goal: eary 2024.)

FULL SCENE

WHO IS STEPHANIE BROWN?

Stephanie Brown was introduced in the DC comics by writer Chuck Dixon as a foil for her father, the villainous Cluemaster. With a homemade costume and a can-do attitude, she crusaded against crime as the purple-caped Spoiler before she was promoted to the role of Robin and, later, Batgirl.

Stephanie’s optimistic determination and her rapport with Tim Drake/Red Robin earned her a place in the hearts of diehard DC fans, but her own origin story has never been fully told. The Girl in the Mask film tells the tale of the beloved “Eggplant Avenger” from her own POV, exploring her character arc while packing in the action that everyone wants to see from a movie set in Gotham City.
